About Vivian Anderson

Known for her imaginative and colorful performances, Dr. Vivian Anderson is emerging as both a performer and teacher with dazzling artistry and intellectual depth. A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, she was surrounded by the arts at a young age and began piano lessons at age five after teaching herself to read music. In 2024, she started her own private music studio, Animato Piano Academy, where she aims to provide high-quality piano instruction to South Austin students. She also teaches part-time at Clavier-Werke School of Music.

Dr. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from the University of Michigan, a Master of Music in piano performance from Indiana University, and a Doctor of Music in piano performance from Florida State University. Her hobbies outside of music include cooking, reading, crafting, and spending time with friends.

About Aaron Kurz

Engaging audiences with his charismatic and moving performances, pianist Aaron Kurz enjoys a flourishing career. Aaron has soloed with numerous orchestras and across three continents, in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Salle Cortot, and the Palace of Peace and Harmony in Kazakhstan. His performances have been lauded by the press, called both “nuanced musical journeys” (Belgium’s “Le Soir”) and “a lesson in pianism” (England’s “Cambridge Independent”). Most recently, Aaron has completed a tour of Asia, where he performed and taught at various venues across Indonesia and China. In November, he will return to the region for another tour, playing both solo and chamber repertoire.

Aaron’s playing has also garnered recognition in competitions, winning top prizes in the New York, Los Angeles, and Virginia Waring International Piano Competitions, among others. He holds recent degrees from SFCM and Yale, and he is now finishing his DMA at UT-Austin, studying with Anton Nel.

About Duo Andurz

Duo Andurz, composed of American pianists Aaron Kurz and Vivian Anderson, is quickly becoming known for their captivating playing and musical chemistry. Originally founded in 2015 at the University of Michigan, the duo started their career off with a fiery collaboration on Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. After a hiatus while they pursued graduate degrees apart, Kurz and Anderson re-formed the duo in 2024. Since then, they have played numerous concerts together, and they continue to dazzle audiences with their engaging pianism. This November, they will embark upon a tour of Indonesia, where they will play duo repertoire, solo repertoire, and teach masterclasses.

Duo Andurz is currently based in Austin, TX, where they enjoy performing at a wide variety of venues. They have a keen interest in giving back to the community in the form of outreach concerts. They most recently teamed up with the Texas Hill Country Community Foundation to benefit victims of the 2025 Texas Floods, and Casa Marianella to benefit displaced immigrants seeking refuge in Texas. The duo can also frequently be found performing for residents of local assisted living centers. Bothpianists love the outdoors and are avid sports fans, often seen at the local ballpark.
